I’m three episodes away from finishing Terror in Resonance (review of ep 8 will posted soon) and the whole thing has been easier as well as more fun that I initially expected. Since I want to continue these episodic posts, I thought I’d conduct another poll.
Here are the three options.
Vote away!
Lord Marksman and Vanadis
I have no idea why I decided to watch this or where I even came across it but it’s been on my list for a while. ‘Epic adventure with war tactics and beautiful women’ sounds like a good formula. I hope it delivers.
In a fantasy version of Europe, a war between enemy countries is brewing. One of these countries, Zhcted, has its seven regions ruled by War Maidens, known as Vanadis. Equipped with powerful dragon-carved weapons, Eleonora “Elen” Viltaria, one of the Vanadis, launches an invasion against their neighboring rival country of Brune. Eventually, Tigrevurmud “Tigre” Vorn, a young archer and an earl for Brune’s region of Alsace, has his entire army decimated at Elen’s hands. In a strange twist of events, Elen spares Tigre, and gives him the order, “Become mine!” What could be the meaning behind this new alliance?
Adapted from the light novel written by Tsukasa Kawaguchi, Madan no Ou to Vanadis is an epic adventure filled with complex war tactics and beautiful women. Trapped in a multinational conflict, Tigre and Elen are swept up in a war filled with dark secrets, conspiracies, and corruption.
Btooom
This seems like something I’d either hate or love. Recreating a video game instead of being trapped in it seems like an interesting way to go about it though.
Ryouta Sakamoto is unemployed and lives with his mother, his only real achievement being that he is Japan’s top player of the popular online video game, “Btooom!” However, his peaceful life is about to change when he finds himself stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere, with a small, green crystal embedded in his left hand and no memory of how he got there. To his shock, someone has decided to recreate the game he is so fond of in real life, with the stakes being life or death.
Armed with a bag full of unique bombs known as “BIM,” the players are tasked with killing seven of their fellow participants to obtain their green crystals, used as proof of their victory, in order to return home. Initially condemning any form of violence, Ryouta is forced to fight when he realizes that many of the other players are not as welcoming as they may seem. Teaming up with Himiko, a fellow Btooom! player who turns out to be his in-game wife, they attempt to get off of the island together, slowly coming closer and closer to the truth behind this contest of death.
Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm
This was recommended to me by Remy when I asked after yuri anime that wasn’t all about romance. I have also been planning to watch more sports anime, so it’s two birds with one stone.
Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm is set in a world where people can take to the skies, soaring above land and sea. An area called the Four Islands Archipelago has a technology called Grav-Shoes, which allow the wearer to fly. Aside from simple transportation, people also use these shoes in a competition called FC (Flying Circus). To score points, they either touch buoys floating above the ocean, or their opponent’s backs.
The energetic but ditzy Asuka Kurashina transfers to Kunahama Academy, a high school in the Four Islands Archipelago, from the outside world. She joins Misaki Tobisawa and Masaya Hinata’s second year class. Her lack of experience and general clumsiness make her classmates worry if she can learn to fly properly, but she quickly develops an interest in FC, and she, Misaki, and Mashiro, a freshman, join the school’s tiny FC club. But Masaya seems reluctant for some reason, even though he seems to know a lot about the sport.

Hopefully that second season will come soon rather than leave us with a lackluster s1 ending as many anime tend to.
Thanks for dropping by!

I voted Lord Marksman, but seeing that the poll is already at 80% for Vtoom, I’m pretty sure what the results will be lol 😂 Oh well, it will probably be awesome as well !

You can never be sure. Last time, it was Deadman Wonderland in the lead until the very end and then Terror in Resonance got ahead.

Yeah, I went with Vanadis because while I enjoyed Btoom it is utterly unresolved. Vanadis is also pretty open but the immediate conflict is dealt with though it is definitely a different style of narration. Then again, given the current results it mostly looks like Btoom will win.

Terror in resonance won at the last moment in the previous poll so anything is possible. I’ll watch all three anyway and Vanadis has been on my list for a long time.

I voted for Vanadis. Btooom is good too, but the non-ending is disappointing.

You’re the second person to say that. I hope another season will come eventually.

I don’t know any of these shows, but Vanadis sounded the coolest to me.

It does have a pretty cool premise. Hope it lives up to that.

I actually haven’t seen any of these. Btooom is the only one I’ve ever been recommended and I’ve heard some not so great things about the other two that have kept me away from watching them.

Btooom seems to be consistently in the lead for now. I’ve actually heard very little that’s spoilery about these shows, except for Btooom having an inconclusive ending. They all have interesting summaries though so I’m hoping for the best.
