Hiatus (Soon)

Hello. Yes, I’m still alive.

Remember when I said I was going to be busy with grad school admissions and likely to not blog as much?

Well, turns out that shitty management in universities means grad school things are delayed and shitty management in my head means that I’m still not going to blog as much.

Or at all.

I haven’t watched a single anime episode in about a month. It’s been a struggle to even finish the posts that I’d started and the few post you saw in the last few weeks were those. I have one left.

People whose blogs I visit regularly may have noticed that I’ve been AWOL this week. Well, there was this thing that came up and I was away from home with limited internet and came back to over 500 notifications in my inbox. Clearly, the wisest solution was to delete them all and start again.

I will try my best to keep up with your blogs properly from today onwards. But my own blog is going to gather dust for a while. I can’t blog about anime without watching anime and I can’t watch anime.

Seriously, I can’t go five minutes staring at those pretty pixels without wanting to bash my head against a wall. It’s frustrating because I still really love anime.

Fun times. Is this the dreaded burn-out? I don’t know. It’s sure something.

So yeah, D Talks Anime will now go on hiatus. D themself will still be around.

I hope I can return one day soon when I’ve sorted myself out.

Don’t be too quick to unsubscribe though. I do have one other post queued. It’s a Favorite Scenes article for Yuri on Ice that I’d been working on alongside the one for Shiki. I finally managed to finish it. Now I just need to get some screenshots. Expect it in a few days.

After that, sayonara.

  1. Aw, it’s okay. School + writer’s (blogger’s?) block alone is sucky. But both at the the same time? Nope, that’s way worse.

School is top priority. It may even be a constributor to the burn-out you’ve been having. What I’m saying is, as both a blogger and a writer, I think burn-outs are totally normal.

I do hope you get school back in order, and that this burn-out won’t stick around for long! Good luck.

School is more stressful for uncertain admissions is than anything else. Sometimes, I think I should have stuck to engineering but then I rememeber I’m shit at physics.

Thanks a lot for the support!

If there is one thing that I will never do it’s unsubscribing from your blog. All I can say is take all the time you need to sort things out. Things like these are important and if you can’t sort things out for yourself, try and seek help. If you wait too long with this it might turn into something even worse (and no I’m not trying to scare you). Hopefully things will sort itself out soon but take all the time you need to recover. And don’t worry about your blog: it’s not going anywhere….it will be here always. If I can help in any way, you know how to contact me. Take care my friend 😊

I’m well aware of my inclination towards depression but it’s nowhere near that bad yet and I’m hoping it stays that way. Hopefully, everything will settle down before that.

Thank you so much for your kindness. Really, Michels, it means a lot.

Sorry to hear things are a bit rough. I’ll look forward to your scheduled post and hope that things settle for you and you can do the things you want. Until then, I hope things work out well for you.

Thank you, Karandi! It was pretty fun writing that Yuri on Ice post – definitely the show I’d choose to be featured in my last (for now) one. Hope you’ll like it when it’s out.

  5. Bah, there’s no reason for me to unsub. How would I know if you’d come off the hiatus? Not to mention staying subbed makes it fairly easy to find the blog again when I want to revisit something. Hopefully things will settle down for you one way or another though, and the hardships will soon be a blip in the past.

Like many have said already, there is absolutely no point in unsubscribing to your blog!

The mentality behind unsubbing to anything is when producers start producing content that we consumers feel as if they are constantly repulsive. Take political agenda for an obvious example.

This is where social media like Twitter becomes extremely advantageous; you can ramble just about anything in short and let it do the magic.
But then we are an anime community here on WordPress, technically you should be able to treat it like Twitter so you can do rambles with less than hundred words. Oh and it doesn’t even have to do with anime!
As painful as it can be, do talk about the shitty times at your graduate school… 😀

I hope it all goes your way! 🙂

Thanks for sticking with me 😉 You know what, I might just end up posting here about my personal life again if things change but at the moment, even my life’s not too interesting. Things will change soon hopefully.

people unfollow if your blog goes on hiatus? that’s a pretty awful move. haha.

Idk, I tend to stick with blogs I subscribe to unless they start actively offending me (which is hard to do). But who knows, some people might prefer not to follow an inactive blogger.

And thank you! I hope so too.

Good luck with your Grad School. Hope things work out for you. And don’t worry about blogging; it’s no longer fun if it becomes a job, right? Watch anime if/when you have time and don’t even bother writing about it if you can’t find the time. Enjoy things for yourself. 🙂

Thank you! I’m kinda glad I managed to stop before it became a chore but then again, I’m generally bad at doing things I don’t want to so maybe I’m safe in that regard haha.

Good luck with your grad school D and you shouldn’t worry about people unsubscribing your blog. As a blogger, it’s all about taking your time of what you write. You keep on watching anime as your escapism and live your live to the fullest. Good luck and everyone’s counting on you.

    Well, *curseword*. That sucks.

Not planning on unsubbing though… I’ll just leave you in my reader and look forward to the next notification.

D, I would never unsubscribe from you!

I’m really sorry to hear that the people managing grad school stuff are so incompetent. I’m here if you ever need to vent.

It is a shame that you can’t watch anime these days, but we’ll all be waiting for you. I’m very happy that you’re still gonna be around, though!

I feel your pain. Right now I have around 100 notifications to get through, but finishing late at work means I won’t clear the backlog any time soon. Hope things ease up with the studies so you can get back to anime. Try not to stress out and best of luck.
